Jack and Janet Burns, Professional Innsitters
After retiring from the corporate world in 1999, we purchased a lovely seven-room Victorian inn (circa 1850) in southern Vermont.
We moved in the first week of January and jumped right into ski season! It was challenging but very rewarding.
Over the next five years, we enjoyed making our bed and breakfast a success, and saw many returning guests. We created breakfast specials, made our own pastries served held tea every day at 4pm with homemade desserts. We also designed unique guest packages – including an elegant wedding getaway complete with a picture perfect ceremony in our Victorian living room!
Our inn was a great success, but we missed family. After our fifth year, we decided to move closer to our roots, and relocated to the beautiful countryside of Lancaster, Pennsylvania.
We met many lovely people during our innkeeping days. Many of our guests spent time during breakfast asking us how we got started. As we shared our experiences, we learned that some of our visitors had dreams to start their own inns. So we decided to turn our interactions into an all-inclusive Aspiring Innkeepers Seminar.
We have always kept innkeeping close to our hearts, which is why we chose to become innsitters – to bring our experience and dedication to your inn while you are away.
